This UN Rated 55 gallon taper sided blue plastic drum is made of extrusion blow-molded high molecular weight high-density polyethylene (HMW-HDPE). Drum includes cover and lever lock ring closure. Plastic drums are durable and lightweight and are ideal for outdoor use because they are weather resistant. UN specifications include a rating of UN 1H2/Y185/S and UN1H2/Z185/S for solids. Ideal for safe storage, handling and transportation of hazardous materials, spill containment and cleanup of hazardous materials, original shipping container, bio waste disposal and incineration.

Material:

High-Density Polyethylene PlasticHigh density polyethylene (HDPE ) is the most commonly used resin. This economical plastic has good impact and chemical resistance, is naturally translucent and flexible. It is typically used for personal care products such as shampoo bottles. Adding color will give HDPE an opaque look that will result in an increase in weight and rigidness. We have a variety of these rigid and tough high density polyethylene products in stock, from containers, pails, bottles, caps, tubs and jugs. HDPE works well in below freezing temperatures. HDPE heat compatibility varies. Maximum fill temperature is generally around 171°F; however, testing is recommended with your specific product and application.

What is the recommended storage stack height? I'm going three high and usually one bottom drum is denting.
Thank you for your inquiry. In the downloadable specification sheet, it states you may stack 3 (1+2 more) total. Maximum top load on bottom drums not to exceed 600 lbs. each. Thank you for choosing The Cary Company!
Is this drum food grade ? Can it be used to store Maple sap without any transfer of taste or smell?
