Pigmented phenolic lining
Pigmented phenolic lining uses the same resin as gold phenolic lining and can be red or olive. The lining's color is achieved by adding pigment to the resin, which creates a thicker film and is therefore suitable for applications that require greater protection. Phenolic linings are unmodified phenolic and thus have a high degree of acid and solvent resistance. Unmodified phenolic is not recommended for alkaline products. Similar to gold phenolic lining, pigmented phenolic lining is ideal for products with a pH of 3.0-7.0 such as acid compounds, agricultural chemicals, insecticides, corrosive chemicals, solvents and solvent containing materials, nitrocellulose lacquers and inks, food products, essential oils, and petroleum products. This lining is manufactured with FDA-compliant raw materials.

Q & A
Customer Questions
What is the maximum use temperature for this steel pail? We have a process that requires filling this pail hot, preferable over 212° F.
Thank you for your inquiry. Our technical team says that these pails should be okay for a hot fill application over 212° F. However, we recommend that you allow the product to cool before sealing. A rapid seal after filling could cause side wall paneling. Thank you for choosing The Cary Company.

What kind of closures are compatible with open head steel pails?
Because open head steel pails are containers with removable lids, The Cary Company offers cover types including lug (crimped) and dish (lever lock ring).
How many cubic feet in a 5 gallon pail?
The simple conversion of measurement of 5 gallons is 0.803 cubic feet. However, this is for the nominal capacity of the pail. The actual (overflow) capacity of a pail can vary from model to model. To calculate the full volume in cubic feet, for cylinder pails, you need to multiply π (3.14) x the pail radius (in feet) x the pail height (in feet).
